Days in an International Pre-school

We have welcomed a calligraphy teacher today, and had Japanese calligraphy session as one of the activities for the theme of “All about Japan”.

Younger children loved to get their hands messy with black ink, as you can imagine…

All About Japanというテーマ学習の一環で、本日はお習字の先生にきていただきました。ニコニコマークを書いて、筆になれてから、キンダー・プリすクーラーたちは、ひらがなや漢字を筆で書いてみました。トドラーは、墨で手を真っ黒にするのを楽しんでいました。

Children at Tamagawa International Preschool now know this fact.    Today, children learned about Matisse himself, his way of painting, and engaged themselves into drawing for the theme of “window”.

Home made potatoe croqette was soooo good!  No wonder the orange tasted so weet - it was from Okinawa!

＜TODAY’S　LUNCH＞

・Soboro　rice (with16 cereals/curry flavor)

・Simmered hijiki with vegetables

・Peas

・Lotus root patty

・Caramelized sweet potatoes

＊The Soboro rice is made of tofu.A healthier version of minced chicken.

 

On the second week of winter school in 2008, children made play dough out of flower, and learned about the three primary colors and sub colors.

“Primary colors are the set of colors that can produce other range of colors.  Sub colors can be made by combining primary colors, and you can try this using play dough you just made!”

The last round of theme for the 1st term and also for the winter school is ” The Mitten“.  This is a famous ukrainian falk tale and is also translated in Japanese 『てぶくろと』いう題で日本語の絵本もあります).

As you see in the cover page of the book and also in this photo, animals share the mitten in cold winter.  This truely is a heart-warming story and is recommended for the story time before going to bed.

In relation to this story, Children and teachers also made The Mitten Cookies shaping their real hand shapes.

Having visit from fire station,  students learned how to call to the fire station in case of emergency. 

There was a news that three year old boy in the United States called to the fire station and saved his family.  This was only possible because he had learned how to call to the fire station.  Children at this age is quite capable for various things if adults guide them properly.

Even in the cold weather like this, children are energetic and enjoy phisical activity.  Today, we did the relay race at the school garden.
